Counting (k,l)-sumsets in groups of prime order

چکیده
A subset A of a group G is called (k, l)-sumset, if A = kB−lB for some B ⊆ G, where kB − lB = {x1 + · · · + xk − xk+1 − · · · − xk+l : x1, . . . , xk+l ∈ B}. Upper and lower bounds for the number (k, l)-sumsets in groups of prime order are provided.

The additive structure of the squares inside rings
When defining the amount of additive structure on a set it is often convenient to consider certain sumsets; Calculating the cardinality of these sumsets can elucidate the set’s underlying structure. We begin by investigating finite sets of perfect squares and associated sumsets. We reveal how arithmetic progressions efficiently reduce the cardinality of sumsets and provide estimates for the min...
متن کاملCOUNTING DISTINCT FUZZY SUBGROUPS OF SOME RANK-3 ABELIAN GROUPS
In this paper we classify fuzzy subgroups of a rank-3 abelian group $G = mathbb{Z}_{p^n} + mathbb{Z}_p + mathbb{Z}_p$ for any fixed prime $p$ and any positive integer $n$, using a natural equivalence relation given in cite{mur:01}. We present and prove explicit polynomial formulae for the number of (i) subgroups, (ii) maximal chains of subgroups, (iii) distinct fuzzy subgroups, (iv) non-isomorp...
متن کاملSumsets in dihedral groups
Let Dn be the dihedral group of order 2n. For all integers r, s such that 1 ≤ r, s ≤ 2n, we give an explicit upper bound for the minimal size μDn (r, s) = min |A · B| of sumsets (product sets) A · B, where A and B range over all subsets of Dn of cardinality r and s respectively. It is shown by construction that μDn (r, s) is bounded above by the known value of μG (r, s), where G is any abelian ...
متن کاملRecognition by prime graph of the almost simple group PGL(2, 25)
Throughout this paper, every groups are finite. The prime graph of a group $G$ is denoted by $Gamma(G)$. Also $G$ is called recognizable by prime graph if for every finite group $H$ with $Gamma(H) = Gamma(G)$, we conclude that $Gcong H$. Until now, it is proved that if $k$ is an odd number and $p$ is an odd prime number, then $PGL(2,p^k)$ is recognizable by prime graph. So if $k$ is even, the r...
متن کاملNew characterization of some linear groups
There are a few finite groups that are determined up to isomorphism solely by their order, such as $mathbb{Z}_{2}$ or $mathbb{Z}_{15}$. Still other finite groups are determined by their order together with other data, such as the number of elements of each order, the structure of the prime graph, the number of order components, the number of Sylow $p$-subgroups for each prime $p$, etc. In this...
